Meet the Founder

My name is Angie, and I am the founder of Enlighten Autism Training.

More than 20 years ago, I graduated from an Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Academy and began my career in law enforcement, serving in the corrections division of a small Ohio sheriff's office. After my son was diagnosed with autism and a neuromuscular disorder, I made the decision to change careers so I could better meet his needs and advocate for his care.

For the past 12 years, I have worked as a nurse, caring for individuals from all walks of life. Throughout both my personal and professional journey, I have had the privilege of learning from autistic individuals and their families. My experiences as an autism parent, nurse, and former law enforcement officer have provided me with a unique perspective on the challenges that can arise when first responders and autistic individuals interact.

Enlighten Autism Training was created to help bridge that gap. My goal is to provide practical, real-world education that helps first responders better understand autism, communicate more effectively, and respond with confidence and compassion. By combining professional experience with personal insight, I hope to foster safer, more positive interactions for autistic individuals, their families, and the professionals who serve them.
